Development kit supporting implementation of the new role: Intercultural Mediator

This comprehensive set has been created thinking about future Intercultural Mediators and trainers who will introduce them to a new role. We combined our collective experience – working in the international project team to help trainers and trainees to be more effective in this process, using: development program, intercultural mediator handbook and toolbox.

01 - Action Point

Curriculum/Development program

A curriculum allowing anyone (like training company) to develop competences of the Intercultural mediator

The teaching program is be based on the standard of professional qualifications (competences), taking into account the role and tasks of the mediator. There were identified five key development areas:

  • Competences in the field of mediation
  • Communication in a multicultural environment
  • Coping with the Conflict resulting from cultural differences
  • Building openness to different cultures
  • Supporting families of the migrant

Intercultural Mediator Handbook

The manual is a guide for a Mediator, containing the chapters:

  • Description of role and responsibility
  • What support should I offer?
  • What support can I expect as a Mediator
  • Action Plan for a Mediator
  • First step as a Mediator

03 - Action Point

Tool-box Intercultural Mediator

Tool-box Intercultural Mediator – an interactive manual providing knowledge (know-how) and containing procedures/tools/methods in 10 key areas of activity enabling it to effectively perform a new role.
